|Summary:||The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE=ABAG) is a tool which enables planners and farmers to predict the rate of soil erosion by water and so different methods of precautionary protection can be analysed. To improve the USLE for NRW it was necessary to calibrate two important parameters: First the C factor for conventional crops, important vegetables, Christmas trees and second the R factor for the local distribution and seasonal distribution of rainfall erosivity. The improved results are now implemented in an upgrades version of EMiL. EMiL is a GIS based computer program which can model different cultivation strategies for precautionary soil protection. To get a wide spread of the improved data basis for the NRW-C factor it is possible to download from the internet site of the Landwirtschaftskammer NRW an Excel-based calculation program called "c-faktor-berechnung.xls".|
